I lie on your chest
My ear close to your heart
Listening to you live.
Your lips,
Light, and soft like fearthers
Dance across my skin,
Teasing me into submission.
My tongue tastes you.
I inhale the scent of your skin,
As l trace my lips
Upon the velvet landscape Of you.
I’m All Yours.

And though you danced
No music played.
It was all in your head.
I played along
Swayed and dipped
And held you so close.
Your dress was sheer
Each move like ripples.
And sparks crossed between us.
And when it stopped
The rhythm of the silence,
We kissed starving lips.
Fingertips numb
From holding on too long
Our hearts using up all the air.
And in your eyes
Were all the songs
We danced to in silence.

I want to take you by the hand
Lead you into every room in my house
Take a while in each one
To look around
Acclimatise.
I want to dance in the rain with you
You’ll never know how long I’ve waited to dance in the rain with you.
I want to walk in the sun with you
You’ll never know how long I’ve waited to walk in the sun with you.
And after our tour of the rooms in my house is over,
I want to take you back to the bedroom.
You’ll never know how long I’ve waited to be in my bedroom with you.
Forever.

I was digging in the dirt
At the side of a leaf-strewn riverbed
Searching for something I lost.
It’s hard to miss the purpose in life
When someone goes and leaves a hole
Shaped like a broken heart
In your already shattered world.
But l know redemption is here somewhere.
So l continue to dig
By the side of the leaf-clogged river.
It’s flowing past me so fast
The scree creeps closer to me
I only have a little time left to find you.
God buried you here
For me to find.
You’re shaped like a pink, bloody heart
But not broken yet.
You’re whole
And finding you
Will make me whole again.
So l dig faster.
By this river
Full of dying leaves.
Until finally
You are revealed to me.
And what a jewel you are.

An unitchable itch
Cast by a witch
Who could bewitch
The angels.
My spell.
That she put me under.
An unacheable ache
Just as I’m awake
A potion to make
Me fall.
Her charms
That l cannot resist.
An unlovable love
As below, so above
My hand in her glove
Latched tight.
This ache
That only touching her will ease.
And then a different ache begins.

I’m miles away
I’m waking up
In someone else’s shoes today..
I’d like to say
That even though
You feel as if you’re far away
I’m by your side.

I looked up
Into inky blackness
Thinking of the sky you see
Where you are.
Is it the same?
I picked out
a tiny pinprick of light
Closed my eyes
And made a forlorn wish.
Did you see it?
Did you see my message
On the curtain of the night,
Feel my wish
In your heart?
Do you see our star?
It sees you.
And me.
Its light leads you to me.
You just have to follow.

Lying here
Lit by low Winter sun
Streaming through thin curtains
I glance at you beside me.
The rise of your chest
As you take in each breath
Invites kisses
And gentle strokes.
But l dare not wake you.
This morning vision
Reinforced my decision
To talk to you
On that beautiful and fateful day
And how you’ve repaid me.
Sounds from another room
The kids are awake too soon
And l see you stir from your reverie
Glance at me, watching you
Smiling,
Resigned to another day of being mom
When all I want
Is for you to be Mila again
My love
My wife
My life.
Oh how l love these Sunday mornings
When l only borrow you briefly
And in the quiet hours before waking
When you remind me
Just how beautiful you are.
Just how perfect we are
Together
This morning.
Love is a Sunday at 5am
Lying next to you.
Feeling your skin
And hearing your breath.
Our hearts
Connected by invisible strands of love.

You say
You don’t see your beauty
I say
How can you fail to.
You say
You love me more
I say
That’s just impossible.
You say
You miss me every day
I say
You’re my everything.
You say
It’s like fate knew us
I say
We are eternal.
Who is right?
Who is wrong?
None of us know
Why some see beauty
And some see plain.
I just know
When you say you’re not
I see the truth.
You’re beautiful.
So beautiful.

I wandered into your orbit
Drawn by your light
A faraway star
A whisper in the wind
And I strayed by every night.
To begin, we were soulmates
We shared so many things
A song, a poem
A piece of our lives
We flew on love’s wings.
But slowly you became a shadow
And edged away from me
I chased after you
Begged you to stay
But I know we’ll never be.
Never.
